RX-78-2 MG 2.0 1/100

The RX-78-2 Gundam (aka the Gundam or White Mobile Suit) is the titular mobile suit of Mobile Suit Gundam. Part of the RX-78 Gundam series, it was built in secret on Side 7. The Gundam would turn the tide of war in favor of the Earth Federation during the One Year War against the Principality of Zeon. The unit was primarily piloted by the series' main protagonist Amuro Ray.

Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Gundam was incredibly advanced for its time. Built from lightweight Luna Titanium Alloy, its frame was both lighter than that of Zeon's mass-produced mobile suits and much sturdier, able to shrug off a MS-06 Zaku II's machine gun fire with little to no damage. Its offensive power was above and beyond that of the Zakus. The Gundam would engage in most battles with its beam rifle, making it the first mobile suit to have firepower equivalent to a battleship's beam cannons. In addition, it made use of two beam sabers, blades of extremely hot plasma which could cut through any metal with ease. Those beam sabers could be extended into a spear-like beam javelin, which could be used to stab into an enemy from a longer distance.

The Gundam also used more conventional weaponry; it could launch rockets with a "Hyper Bazooka," the Federation's answer to the bazookas used by Zeon's Zakus; in addition, its head was outfitted with a pair of small vulcan guns, as a way of attacking light-armored aircraft and vehicles without wasting ammo or energy from its more powerful armaments. It also made use of a very unconventional close-range weapon known as the "Gundam Hammer" - a large weapon similar to a flail which could be swung at enemies to deal crushing damage. The Gundam Hammer was eventually upgraded for use in space and outfitted with a number of verniers on the ball, and renamed to be the "Hyper Hammer". Lastly, it wielded a shield which would offer it a defense against enemy attacks that not even its Luna Titanium body could withstand without damage. Gundam pilot, Amuro Ray, would make use of the shield as a decoy in many battles, taking advantage of its size to fool the enemy into thinking he was charging at them, then attacking the enemy through the shield.

In terms of technology, the Gundam was equipped with a sophisticated Learning Computer which would collect pilot and enemy data during skirmishes and allow the Gundam to operate more effectively. The data from the computer was used by the Federation to improve the controls of the Gundam's mass-produced form, the RGM-79 GM. In addition, it was upgraded by Federation technician Mosque Han shortly before the Battle of A Baoa Qu to improve its reaction times, the joints of the Gundam were given a Magnetic Coating, based on the experimental procedure performed on the RX-78-3 "G-3" Gundam and later used on Amuro's intended successor unit, the RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex".

The Gundam makes use of the Core Block System implemented in the other V Project units. The torso of the Gundam is mostly hollow so that a FF-X7 Core Fighter can dock with it. This allows the pilot to jettison the legs and torso of the Gundam should the machine be too heavily damaged and gives the pilot a chance to escape from battle. Later, during Operation Odessa, the Gundam is given a support unit known as the G-Fighter. The two G-Fighters were designed to take advantage of the Gundam's modular system and diversify the Gundam's role in active combat. These modes ranged from the assault bomber G-Armor to the close combat suppot G-Bull.

Armaments
60mm Vulcan Gun
Mounted in the head, the pair of Vulcan guns were 60mm Gatling Guns and have a high rate of fire. Primarily used to ward off advancing enemies, shoot down missiles or other lightly armoured targets, they also made good use as an anti-aircraft and anti-personnel weapons. The Vulcan guns however had a hard time piercing heavy armor (though they had shown the ability to do severe damage to Mobile Suits if fired at point-blank range) and thus were not often used against larger, more heavily armored foes.
Beam Saber
The Gundam was the first mobile suit to ever use a beam weapon made for melee combat, and two beam sabers are stored on the backpack. The beam sabers use Minovsky particles held in place by an I-Field to form an effective cutting surface that can slice through nearly any material. The particles for the beam sabers are stored in the E-cap within the hilt of the saber, which is recharged from the Gundam's reactor when the saber is returned to its backpack storage rack. Once activated, beam sabers do not rely on the mobile suit's reactor and can be thrown or discarded as decoys. One can be used as a reserve weapon, or both can be used simultaneously in a twin sword fashion. The beam saber can also transform into the Beam Javelin.
Beam Javelin
The beam javelin is an alternate form of the beam saber, with an extended handle and a three pronged beam at the end. The long reach of the weapon gives the RX-78-2 an advantage in close quarters combat.
Gundam Hammer/Hyper Hammer
The Gundam Hammer is essentially a large spiked ball attached to a chain, and provides the Gundam with a ranged melee weapon. The Gundam could either throw or swing the Hammer around itself in order to impact and damage its target through the sheer mass of the hammer. Later, it was upgraded into the Hyper Hammer and had several rockets mounted into the ball in order to allow it to maneuver more effectively in space as well as the ability to change its direction before impact, and to increase the damage it could cause.

BAUVA*XBR-M-79-07G Beam Rifle

A revolutionary weapon for its time, the beam rifle is the primary weapon used by the Gundam. Making use of the Federations E-cap (or "energy capacitor") technology, the rifle uses charged concentrations of Minovsky particles as ammunition. This gives the beam rifle firepower equivalent to that of a battleship's beam cannons. As the Minovsky particles destroy matter on a molecular scale, the beam rifle can penetrate even the thickest armor and destroy its target with a single shot. One weak point of the rifle was its energy limits. The rifle could only be fired 16 times before depleting its energy and becoming useless. When not in use, the beam rifle can be stored on the back skirt armor.

BLASH*XHB-L-03/N-STD Hyper Bazooka

Technically a large rocket launcher, it could fire several 380mm missiles to attack targets at long range. No mass-production MS's armor is able to stop this weapon. While very powerful, it has a slow rate of fire and a fairly little amount of ammunition. Most often used to take out slow, heavily armored targets.

RX*M-Sh-008/S-01025 Shield

Hand-carried, forearm-mounted or stored on the Gundam's backpack, the shield is a simple defense used to block most physical and beam attacks. Also used to great effect in close quarters battle with enemy mobile suits. Has a view port than can be sealed off with an internal blast plate. The shield is also used to deflect heat away from the mobile suit when undergoing atmospheric re-entry.
Special Equipment & Features

Core Block System

The prototype mobile suits produced by the Earth Federation Forces' Operation V, are equipped with a central block which houses the mobile suit's cockpit, control systems and main power source. This core block can eject in case of emergency and unfold into a small Core Fighter.

Hardpoints

An attachment point for weapons, shields, spare ammunition, or optional mission-specific equipment. Hardpoints can also be used to store carried weapons when a mobile suit needs its manipulators free for other purposes.
Learning Computer
A critical component of the Gundam's success in combat, the Learning Computer System was similar to a modern day black box. It recorded the data from each of the Gundam's battles for further use. However, the system could also actively learn and improve the capabilities of the Gundam. This was conceived of as a means to get around the difficulty of training pilots. The computer could apply various programs for walking, fighting, and working to the case at hand, independently reaching decisions and making improvements. Once adequate data had been accumulated, the programs could be transplanted, allowing even a machine operated by a novice to perform like a veteran pilot.Heatproof Field
A system installed in the RX-78-2 Gundam, which pumps out air to counter the friction heat of atmospheric entry. The mobile suit's internal cooling systems must also be engaged to deal with the heat that penetrates the air field.

Magnetic Coating

A special membrane treatment applied to mobile suit joints to improve their response speed. The mobile suits developed by the Earth Federation Forces use special actuators called field motors, whose efficiency is increased by the magnet coating process. The treatment also reduces friction resistance in the mobile suit's joints. First tested on the RX-78-3 Gundam, this process is then applied to the RX-78-2 used by Amuro Ray, reducing the time required for changes of direction by roughly 27%.

History

The RX-78-2 was the second of three Gundam prototype units constructed on Side 7 in UC 0079, as part of the Earth Federation's V Project. Built to complement the long-range unit Guntank and mid-range support unit Guncannon, the Gundam was designed to be a highly mobile, close range machine with advanced weaponry beyond that used by Zeon's machines.

A raid by Zeon forces on Side 7 in September of UC 0079 resulted in heavy damage to the other two RX-78 units built on the colony. However, thanks to the unexpected interference of V Project head Tem Ray's son, Amuro, inside the RX-78-2, the Zeon intruders were repelled. Though they had caused significant damage to the colony, the Gundam and its sister units were spared. The three machines acted as the defense force for the Pegasus-class mobile suit carrier White Base and protected the ship in its push to Earth and travels over North America and Asia, fighting in support of General Revil's Odessa campaign.

The RX-78-2 would see use in the defense of the Federation's headquarters in Jaburo and the pivotal raids on Zeon's asteroid bases Solomon and A Baoa Qu. Its reputation was one of dread, with Zeon armed forces nicknaming the unit and its pilot White Devil. In the final battle of the One Year War, the Gundam engaged an unfinished Zeon prototype, the Zeong (piloted by Char Aznable), in battle. Both machines took heavy blows from the other, with the Gundam losing its head and left arm. The two machines ultimately destroyed each other within the corridors of the Zeon stronghold, when their pilots had them both fire one last shot after being set to auto pilot. Amuro later returned to the Gundam's wreckage and used the still-intact Core Fighter to escape the fortress.

Despite the loss of Amuro's prototype Gundam unit, the series itself enjoyed a long service life in the Federation, being made with many variants before being replaced in 0087 by the Gundam Mk-II, the Zeta Gundam and the ZZ Gundam.

RGM-79 Powered GM 1/144 - Custom by Stealth

Technology & Combat Characteristics
The RGM-79 Powered GM is a RGM-79C GM Type C that has been modified with advanced parts in order to test their functionality for use in future advanced mobile suits. Many of its new components are used in the form of a backpack system that incorporates a more powerful Minovsky-type ultracompact fusion reactor and more powerful thrusters. This new equipment granted the Powered GM significantly greater mobility. Its leaping height and speed greatly surpassed that of the MS-06F2 Zaku II F2 Type, and it has greater mobility when in midair. Because of the stress the mobile suit's legs receives when landing from such heights, heights greater than the GM Kai was originally intended to go, the Powered GM was outfitted with new shock absorbers in the knees.

Armaments
60mm Vulcan Gun
A standard armament of the mobile suits that are descended from the Earth Federation Forces's RX series is a pair of head mounted 60mm vulcan guns. These shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire but have little power and can't damage the thick armor of a mobile suit, though it can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors. The weapons are ideal for shooting down small, fast moving, lightly armored targets such as missiles, small land vehicles, and attack helicopters.
Beam Saber
The beam saber is a small cylindrical device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by an energy capacitor that is recharged from special racks. This weapon is capable of cutting through any metal that has not been treated with anti-beam coating. The RGM-79C Powered GM is equipped with a single beam saber stored in a recharge rack in the left side of the backpack.

HWF GMG·MG79-90mm Bullpup Machine Gun
The bullpup machine gun is an open-bolt, gas-operated, magazine-fed, mobile suit handheld sub-machine gun. It does not require energy to be used, however it is ineffective against heavy armor. When the magazine is empty, it can be discarded and replaced with a new one.

HFW-GR·MR82-90mm GM Rifle
The GM Rifle is a simple shell-firing machine gun that is based on older technologies, it has no where near the power of a beam rifle, but it is a weapon that can be cheaply produced and easily maintained. It features different barrel, sensor unit, stock and magazine configurations that allows for different ballistic and handling properties.

HB-L-07/N-STD Hyper Bazooka
Technically a large rocket launcher it could fire several 360mm missiles to attack targets at long range. No mass-production MS's armor is able to stop this weapon. While very powerful, it has a slow rate of fire and a fairly little amount of ammunition. Most oftenly used to take out slow, heavily armored targets.

FADEGEL RGM-M-Sh-007 Shield
Shields are simple in their design, being essentially thick slabs of metal that the equipped mobile suit can use to absorb the impact from attacks that, for whatever reason, cannot be dodged. However shields can only withstand so much pressure before becoming damaged themselves. As technology progressed it became necessary for shields to be treated with an anti-beam coating as a measure of defense against beam weapons which can normally penetrate any physical barrier, however the coating gets gradually burned away each time a beam strikes it until it is rendered useless. Powered GM could optionally mount a shield on either of its forearms.
History

The RGM-79 Powered GM was built in the year U.C. 0083 and at least two units were known to exist and stationed at Federation's Torrington Base in Australia where one of them was assigned to test pilot Dick Allen. The Powered GM would be tested in mock battles against multiple MS-06F2 Zaku II F2 Type for data gathering purposes, typically ending in victory without Allen having pushed the machine to its limits. On October 13 U.C. 0083, the Torrington Base was attacked by members of the Delaz Fleet. Both Powered GMs would be sortied against the enemy mobile suits, with Allen's unit was assigned as a member of one of the teams to pursue the stolen Gundam GP02. However, Allen's Powered GM was ambushed and destroyed by Adamski's Dom Tropen. Another damaged Powered GM was seen at the devastated Torrington Base. After the raid, the test data of the Powered GMs were mostly lost.

EB-06 Graze (Iron Blooded Orphans) 1/144 Custom by Mr. Spriken

Graze Kai (HG) (Gundam Model Kits) Package1
Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Graze is a state of the art mobile suit series built by Gjallarhorn and deployed within the Earth Sphere and space.[1][2] It is the successor of the EB-04 Geirail and can trace its roots back to the Calamity War era mobile suit, V08-1228 Grimgerde and its Valkyrja Frame.[3][4] An excellent machine with low development and operational cost, the Graze is said to be the culmination of current technology.[5]

The machine's frame was carefully designed for general purpose use, and via exchanging armaments and armor, it can adapt to various environments as well as use various loadouts to meet the needs of different missions.[1][2][6] The frame was also developed to be lighter and simpler; compared to the Gundam Frame that represents Calamity War era MS, the Graze’s frame uses much lesser structural material.[5]

The Graze’s head not only contains sensor(s) for measuring Ahab Waves, infrared and so forth, it also has a spherical module that is exposed during optical long-distance viewing and precise measurement.[5] The legs contain retractable thrusters, which are stored within when not in use. This reduces the damage dealt to the machine when they are hit.[5] When used under gravity, the Graze is equipped with lightened armor equipment to ensure its mobility. For space use, it is equipped with a booster unit on its back for high speed movements.[1][6] An almost identical booster unit can also be equipped for use under gravity, but it is mounted on the rear skirt armor instead.

During the development process, many prototypes of the same model were assembled. An example is the EB-05s Schwalbe Graze, which has higher output and mobility, and is a sister machine using the same frame.[1][6] In pursuit of greater versatility, improvements were made to the machine and this resulted in diverse weaponized variants. The aim of this is to reduce operation costs while enhancing stability.[1][6] There is also a commander version of the standard Graze known as EB-06s Graze Commander Type. The smallest operating unit within the Gjallarhorn Mobile Suit Corps consists of three units: a Commander unit and two Standard units.[1]

The Graze is an easy to handle machine for pilots as well as mechanics, and many within Gjallahorn have voiced their praises for the machine's performance. Thus, there is a negative opinion on the development of a next generation main machine.[1][6] However, the battle of Edmonton encouraged the development of heavily armed mobile suits with increased firepower and high output, and as a result, the EB-08 Reginlaze was developed as Graze's successor. [7]

Armaments
GR-W01 120mm Rifle
Graze's standard shooting armament.[1] High accuracy, high utility value as the main or support weapon.[1] The rifle has two magazines, one on each side.[4]

Short Rifle
The 120mm Rifle can be configured into a short rifle by replacing the sensor equipped standard barrel with a short barrel.[4] The short rifle has lower range and accuracy, but is ideal for close combat-use in conjunction with the Battle Axe.

GR-H01 9.8m Battle Axe
Because MS are protected by Nanolaminate Armor, direct blows are considered to be extremely effective during MS battle.[1] The Battle Axe is an equipment developed for MS battle, and focused on striking power.[1][4] It is stored on the side of the waist when not in use.

GR-W02 320mm Bazooka
A rocket firing weapon developed for Graze's use, it is mounted on a special shoulder rack. The bazooka is positioned behind the shoulder rack when not in use, and rotates forward when deployed. Although there are two grips for the Graze's hands, it is possible to fire the bazooka without holding them.[8] If the grips are used, the bazooka can be fired without being mounted on the rack.[4] The bazooka's magazine holds five rounds.[4]
GR-E01 8.8m Shield
Heat-resistant shield developed for the Graze's use.[9] Nanolaminate Armor has been applied, extremely sturdy.[9]

GR-H02 Battle Blade
A sword-type melee weapon that is developed for ground combat, it is easy to wield due to its light weight. As the Graze’s attitude/posture control system is already under high stress when the suit is deployed under gravity, the battle blade is designed to display sufficient destructive power while placing as little burden as possible on the system. It is used by the Graze piloted by Iok Kujan in his fight against the Gundam Gusion Rebake Full City.
Special Equipment & Features
Head Sphere Sensor
A spherical sensor is mounted inside the head, it is revealed during optical long-distance viewing and precise measurement.[5]

Glider (For Mobile Suit)
Shaped like a large shield, it is used to protect the Graze from the intense heat when entering a planet's atmosphere from space. Due to its toughness, it also protects the suit from ground-based attacks while landing.

Booster Unit
For space use, the Graze is equipped with a booster unit on its back for high speed movements.[1][6] An almost identical booster unit can also be equipped for use under gravity, but it is mounted on the rear skirt armor instead.
History

The EB-06 Graze is a mass-produced Mobile Suit used by Gjallarhorn. During the mobile suit development process, many prototypes of the same model were assembled, including the EB-05s Schwalbe Graze. However, this model won the competition to be Gjallarhorn's main Mobile Suit due to possessing good operational and costs aspect.

During the attack on the headquarters of Chryse Guard Security (CGS) to capture Kudelia Aina Bernstein, Gjallarhorn's Mars Branch dispatched two standard green-colored Graze alongside a Graze Commander Type as well as multiple Gjallarhorn Mobile Workers. When the Mobile Workers took too long to dispatch the CGS' TK-53 CGS Mobile Workers, the Graze Commander Type piloted by Orlis Stenja intervened, but it was later defeated by the newly awakened ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos. The other two standard Grazes then participated in the battle, but were eventually forced to retreat. The next day, Crank Zent in his standard Graze challenged Tekkadan to a fair match over Kudelia, and was defeated by Barbatos. Orlis' and Crank's Graze were then salvaged and rebuilt as EB-06/tc Graze Custom.

During Tekkadan's departure to space, Graze units in their space colors were deployed from the Gjallarhorn's Ares base to intercept them. The Graze attack force was lead by Coral Conrad, who eventually used his own Graze Commander Type to fight against Barbatos but was killed in the process. The space color Grazes later appeared alongside the Arianrhod fleet during the workers' rebellion at the Dort Colonies, and they were used to slaughter the ships and mobile suits used by the rebelling workers. Their attack was interrupted when the Tekkadan decided to get involved. The space color Grazes then made their final appearance in season one of the anime as part of Carta Issue's Outer Earth Orbit Regulatory Joint Fleet. They tried to stop the Tekkdan from entering Earth's atmosphere, but they failed as Tekkadan received additional help from Turbines in the form of two STH-05R Roueis. Gjallarhorn's battle on Earth against Tekkadan would be continued by its sister variant, EB-06j Graze Ground Type.

Graze (Dáinsleif Mounted)
The Dáinsleif is a category of railgun capable of penetrating Nanolaminate Armor, including those of a ship, and has long attack range.[10] In fear of this powerful weapon falling into the hands of other powers, Gjallarhorn banned it after the Calamity War.[11] However, they still maintain a system to operate the weapon in case of unexpected events such as a resurrection of the Mobile Armor.[11] The Graze (Dáinsleif Mounted) is the system in question. Basically a mobile turret, this Graze variant's left arm is replaced by the Dáinsleif, and has additional equipment on its back, as well as a unique telescopic sensor in the head instead of the head sphere sensor.[10][11] The suit's Dáinsleif has a pair of cooling and electrical discharge blades that flip open during firing, and a side grip for the right arm.[4][10][11] It fires a large, long spike rod known as 'KEP Bullet' that is loaded via the back of the weapon.[4][10] Due to the bullet's size, the suit itself is unable to reload it, so it is accompanied by the AEB-06L Hloekk Graze that does the reloading and also carries additional bullets.[4][10][11] The telescopic head sensor is exposed only during firing of the Dáinsleif, it has a distant sighting camera and is specifically for precise long range targeting and shooting.[4][11] The Gjallarhorn's Arianrhod Fleet has around 40-60 such Grazes.[12]
